Yesterday Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside and Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that K-12 students will return to school for full time, in-person instruction in September. September 2021 will not be as close to near normal as we all had hoped, but it's a different September than 12 months ago. While we have the Delta variant circulating, we also have vaccines.
Of children ages 12-17, 72% have received their first dose/shot and 57% have received both shots/doses and are fully vaccinated. This number rises daily and BCCDC will be reporting on this in their updates before school begins. Read the media release, watch the recorded announcement and/or reference the Safe School website.
There are 4 key documents parents/guardians should read/review:
1) Return to School Recovery Plan (Please note there are no stages in the K-12 plan);
2) Health & Safety Guidelines;
3) BCCDC Guidance; and
4) Protocols for Administrators which includes info on exposures, notices, communication.
